Forensic Therapies Ltd is a registered charity (no: 1114599) and a company limited by guarantee (no: 5407814). At present it operates within Her Majesty’s Prison Service establishments in the London area.

The agency seeks to reduce incidents of self harm and suicidal ideation and work towards improved mental health by alleviating despair and distress. It aims to reduce offending behaviour by providing offence-focused services, thereby assisting users of its services in making positive life changes and decisions. Through using appropriate challenging and supportive interventions the service confronts destructive behaviours, establishes greater victim awareness, and in so doing contributes to effective protection of the public.

To achieve these goals we provide formal, supervised, professional counselling and psychotherapy of the highest standard to people in custody who are suffering mental distress and psychological pain, and seeking to make positive changes in their lives.

Our values are founded in the recognition of the need for evidence-based practice and research-based interventions; we therefore aim to assess our work in terms of quality standards, clinical effectiveness and value for money. We believe that we cannot approach the challenges of our work alone and therefore value and seek opportunities for partnership working and contracted initiatives. Forensic Therapies Ltd upholds the belief in inherent human value and seeks to restore dignity, healing and respect both for the individual and for the wider community. We therefore seek to provide honorary (unpaid) clinical opportunities as a practical expression of our concern for the human condition.
